It makes this person assume he is better than the person of the past. For example, when I was in sixth grade, I threw a fit every time I did not move on in any game. I was always competitive, so simply I did not take losing very well. I idea I had grown out of this foolishness years past until recently I heard, Calm down, Mark. Its just a game.
The subjects of the research, care myself, assumed we became better people but in circumstance remained the same. Why did we assume this? This is simply because it makes us feel better about ourselves. Ironically, I feel badly about myself now because I see there has been no significant change.
